
About me
APRYL LEE is a writer, educator, and trained voice actor. Her work has appeared in New Orleans Review, Joyland Magazine, Necessary Fiction, and Craft Literary, among others. In 2021, she was awarded a Rona Jaffe scholarship to the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference to further her work on her novel in progress.
Apryl is also a longtime educator and literary advocate, having taught creative writing to students of all ages as well as screenwriting and writing for media at the university level and co-founding the Halfway There reading series in Montclair, New Jersey.
She has worked as a scriptwriter for Goodnight Stories for Rebel Girls for which she was awarded a Webby Award in 2023. When she is not writing characters, she gets to bring to life the characters of others on projects like the Kroger food podcast Noshstalgia and as the audiobook narrator for Choose This Now by Nicole Haroutunian.
Her screenplays and short films have been selected for festivals including the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner, New Filmmakers at Anthology Film Archives, the IFP’s Independent Filmmaker Conference, and as a finalist for the Sundance Institute’s Screenwriter’s Lab.
Apryl holds an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College and lives in New Jersey with her husband and son.
