Make time to be creative
I love helping people unlock their creativity.
I have a Master's of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, and I’ve been teaching for over 20 years. I've taught writing of all kinds, from college composition, fiction, poetry, and screenwriting. I've also facilitated art, Lego, and craft clubs. I've taught elementary students from 3rd grade through adults.
No matter what I’m teaching, my classes are designed to be fun, give students a spark of inspiration, and to provide the time and space for them to be creative.

VIRTUAL
Creative Writing Workshop: Fiction & Poetry
10-Week High School Writers Workshop | Ideal for Homeschool students | Includes weekly homework | Culminates in a printed literary magazine
This course is designed for teens who want to develop their voice as storytellers and poets. Just starting out? This is a small, safe, and encouraging space where all are welcome.
Through weekly workshops, guided prompts, craft lessons, and peer feedback, students will explore the fundamentals of creative writing while building confidence in their ability to create original work.
Each week blends discussion, short readings, and writing time. Students will experiment with character and dialogue, setting, sensory detail, point of view, rhythm, imagery, figurative language, and revision techniques. Homework assignments include short published readings, reading peers' work, and continuing personal writing.
Sharing personal work is always optional. Students can still gain tremendous confidence, insight, and understanding by engaging with the lessons, trying the prompts, exploring the writing process, and listening to peers as they approach creative challenges.
Students will contribute their strongest revised pieces or excerpts to a class literary magazine. In the final weeks, they will collaborate on editing, layout, and design to produce a polished physical publication.
This course emphasizes creative growth, generative writing, supportive community, and the joy of bringing writing into the world.
Cost: $300 - sibling discounts + monthly payment plans available
